Blog #7 Connor McInnis

After reading these poems i came across two the were most interesting to me. They were, "A Supermarket in California" and "We Real Cool" Starting with "We Real Cool" It sounded like a poem about some young teenagers who are obviously up to no good. The poem talks about how they left school, stay out late, and do sexually orientated things with a girl named June. I usually don't read these types of poems especially in school text books, so I thought it was very interesting that the author would write such a poem that seems to be about nothing, but really its about a lot of adolescences and what they do or wish they could do. The other poem was " Supermarket in California" which was about a person following Walt Whitman through a Supermarket. The narrator talks about how Whitman is so lonely with no kids as he goes down all the isles looking at all the meats. I believe the poem is about how Walt Whitman like the narrator may be lost and is looking for something in his life to be satisfied with. And because of this he goes through the whole supermarket looking for things but eventually doesn't find anything that satisfies his wants and needs.
