The Incident

When I first read this poem, I really was not to into it, like I have been with the other poems. When the word "Nigger" was said, thats when I was put into shock, and interest. When the word nigger is used, it is obvious that it is used in a racial slur, towards a person of different color. Nigger is usually said about an African-American, or said directly to an African-American. This poem to me is very racial... The word "nigger" is a bad word, that should never speak through ones lips, whether the sentence contain the word "nigger" to describe someone, or even being used as; "Hey you, nigger."like I have heard in other poems and movies from my past. The fact that the word nigger was said in this poem, shows me that this writer was more than likely black. I think this, because a white person would not necessarily be offended by the term nigger, as a black person would, nor would they be likely to be called a nigger. Other than that, this poem was very good.
