Blog #6
Out of the handful of poems we read and discussed in class, the one that stood out to me the most was "Traveling through the Dark" by William Stafford. During our groups discussions in class i noticed that this was everyones favorite due to the fact that it was easiest to read. Upon further inspection I discovered that the poem was so easy to comprehend because of the words used. Stafford creates a specific image in your head and sets the actual scene in the poem. Phrases like, "By glow of tail-light I stumbled", you can imagine the glowing headlights on the dark narrow road. Also "under the hood purred the steady engine". Stafford could have just said the engine was running but instead used the word purred.
