Blog #5

This week we read the poems "Dulce et Decorum Est", "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner", "Face", "next to of course god america i" and "Mother to Son". The ones i liked in particular were "Dulce et Decorum Est", "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" and "Mother to Son". I found Wilfred Owen's most interesting because its vivid imagery about a World War I battlefield, and sending the message of how patriotism is greatly overrated. "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner" was really effective, specifically because of its compactness and subtly violent stanza. I didn't like "next to of course god america i" because it was for the most part confusing. I feel like it had some significance that was similar to that of "Dulce et Decorum Est" but I thought it was more puzzling.
