Well I am guesing that the next peices of writings we will be reading in class will be poems because thats wha i just read about.  Reading poems for me has always been a struggle.  I can sit down and read a poem sometimes and have no idea what i just read.  Exspecially if the poem was writen a long time ago like something from shakespear it is very hard for me to read let alone understand.  That is why i found the reading that we had to do pretty helpful.  I learned some new techniqes to reading poems. Some of these are.
-Read the poem slowly this way you can easily understand the importance of every word.
-Read the poem outloud this way you can actually listen to it and try to make sence of it.
-When reading only pause at puncuation marks, not at every line. This way the poem will sound more smoothly and be easier to understand.
-Dont be afraid to look up word in the dictionary that you are not certain of their meaning, Because if you dont know the meaning of just one word it could mess up your understanding of the whole entire poem.
Well hopefully these tips for reading poems will help me and maybe you in the up coming reading that we will incounter in the near futher.
