When going about this reading this week after reading it through once I was set on the fact that the term cock roach had one meaning that uncoded the meaning behind the whole story.  The Metamorphosis by Frans Kafka to me on monday had one and only hided message and that was a man who had become a business scammer and a cock roach.  I believed this because this is the typical word used to describe someone involved in fraud, schemes, and unethical practices.  However after discussion with the class and reading it through again more throughly I began to see a different message.  The message was to me to make sure that family comes first.  Never let work get in the way of what matters most.  Gregor was the worker of the family and supported them however he was never there for them so when he changed or got sick the support and the need of assistance wasn't there for him.  The point of the story that I have now taken is be there for your family and they will be there for you as well as don't work yourself to death.  Though I have derived two new meanings to this story in a way my original thoughts were correct.  Gregor was a cock roach however, he was not a cock roach to the business world but to his own family instead.
