The poem "Traveling through the Dark" by William Stafford really stuck out to me. Although it was moderately short poem, it contained great imagery which made me feel like I in the situation that the narrator was in. It was about a deer which was dead on the side of a winding road. It continued on about the narrator finding out that the doe was pregnant and he had to make a very difficult choice. He had to choose between pushing the pregnant deer into the river or leaving it there which would endanger others because they could swerve off the road and possibly die. Another reason why I enjoyed this poem was probably because of how clear and easy it was to understand. Any poem without the need to try and interpret hidden meanings is a good poem because it directly speaks to the reader.
