Battle Royal

This week when picking up the course text book and opening up to "Battle Royal"  the text that I read was the last thing I expected.  The beginning of the short story confused me to as why the title would be what it was and then it all began to fall into place.  The hatred displayed by the wealthy white men who were supportively the leaders of the community was appalling.  The ultimately tour any semblance the "blacks" had as a race and tore them apart by putting incentives in front of their faces.  Though this story was quite graphic and heinous it has been one of my favorite reads so far this year because the underlying messages and the link to out recent past.
