The Metamorphosis
After re-reading The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka I realized how deep this story was. The first time I read it I honestly thought that Kafka was on drugs. I couldn't find one piece of symbolism. After reading through it again I found symbolism in the very first paragraph! When Gregor wakes up and finds out he is a bug he isn't that shocked. I believe that the absence of concern and worry is due to the affect that his mind became one of a bug a long time ago, alls that he did was work. His mother and father also kind of treated him like a bug to before his physical transformation. Kafka is tying to teach a lesson to the readers in this short story. That lesson is that it is very important to care about and for your family, but it is just as important to care for your self. At first I hated this story, but after re-reading it and looking into the deeper meaning, I have come to the conclusion that this is by far the best short story that we have read.
