Keith Henderson Blog 1

Going into this second semester of my college career, I figured analysis and interpretation of literature would be just like any other english class i've taken in the past. I assumed there would be a lot of writing, as well as grammar, sentence structure and other typical Literature topics. I was wrong. After the reading "Hills Like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway, I was feeling how I typically feel after reading a short story. Thinking to myself, why did we just read this? We then opened up the class to discussion and started taking a deeper look into what this story was really about. Once I learned the story was actually about the girl getting an abortion and re-read some of the story I started putting the pieces together. After the first class I realized that this class wasn't going to be like any other english class that I had taken in the past. I also realized that this analysis and interpretation of literature was literally going to be analyzing and interpreting literature. I feel that this class will prove to test my writing and reading skills, as well as improve my critical thinking.
