Blog 1

We have just concluded our second week of class, and our finished our first reading.  We read "Hills Like White elephants" by Earnest Hemingway.  Overall I thought it was a very good short story, although it was a bit confusing at first.  It wasn't until I had read it a couple of times did I begin to understand what the story was about.  Hemingway used symbolism such as trains, white elephants, and the trip to describe the problem between the man and the woman.  This made it hard to understand at first, but upon multiple readings it all fell together and made for a really good story.  I look forward to more stories like this in the future.
