This weeks set of poems was quite diverse.  Out of the set of poems id have to say my two favorites were "We Real Cool" and "Those Winter Sundays".  The reason I liked both of these poems are for two very different reasons.  "Those Winter Sundays" is a sad but at the same time heart warming poem.  Reading it through several times the message becomes clear and so true.  We often don't appreciate the small things our families do for us until it is years later or often too late.  The simple fires the father used to set up for the family all meant something in the long run.  The other poem "We Real Cool" is a great poem that I have heard and listened to several times before.  This poem has a great beat and a great message it is sharing with its readers.  Though this poem is short the words pack a punch as it talks about the path a group of teenagers goes down that turns to be fatal.  You can tell this poem was heavily influenced by the authors home Chicago, Illinois which was a center of crime in the time she was alive.  Both these poems have great messages of life that can be applied each and every day.
