Well so far the class is going good. The short story "Hills Like White Elephants" was a interesting story. I didn't really understand what it was about until about half way through the story when they started to talk about their options. In this story there were many thing that could have definitely been relevant to the story. It really just depended on how you looked at certain things. Things I picked up on in the story were the river, the two bags, grain, and the white hills. All of these things had meaning to them if you just thought about it a little bit. I am finding out that went I read this story's I need to slow down and little things in the story i need to really think about and see if i can make something of them. I think my problem is I am always thinking to literally and need to start thinking outside the box. This next story that we are suppose to by Edgar Allen Poe, I am going to approach it in a different style and take my time reading it. One thing i thing will help me is if i make notes on little things I think might have some importants to the story.

I agree with you about automatically thinking literally when reading, I to have the same issue when I try to read literature. I thought it was easier to piece it all together once we started talking about it in class.
